October 2000 MCCSC Ongoing Technology Plan -- 2000 approved by the State Department of Education. Eligible for Technology Connectivity Grant.
January 2001 Technology Connectivity Grant funds available to MCCSC general fund.
February - April 2001 IS and CAI hold planning meetings with building-level technology committees requesting site plans which address:
  1. Organization -- Instructional missions and visions, flowing from Performance Based Accreditation and flowing into PL 221 activities.
  2. Financial -- Previous and planned income/expenses: budget all potential funds.
  3. Curriculum/Technology Integration
  4. Staff Development directed at Curriculum/Technology Integration plans.
  5. Maintenance/Upgrade/Repair -- Assessment of current equipment against a Student : Workstation ratio affected by the Curriculum/Technology Integration plans.
  6. Technology Selection -- New hardware and software (driven by the C/T Integration and Maintenance Upgrade/Repair plans.
  7. Evaluation -- Quantitative and qualitative assessments and evaluations of Curriculum/Technology Integration impact on the teaching and learning environment.
March 2001 Identification of Planning Group to address issues raised by buildings, the Ongoing Technology Plan -- 2000, funding limitations, and the Board of Education's District Focus 2001-2002:
Technology
Develop or refine the skill level of professional staff members in the area of instructional technology, particularly curriculum integration.
March 22-23, 2001 Planning Group selects and meets with consultant; identifies core set of applications, cadre of facilitators, and structure for the 2-year project.
March 26, 2001 Planning Group secures approval of Superintendent.
March 30, 2001 Planning Group informs principals of the project and schedules awareness and management sessions with building administrators.
Phase 1
April 10, 2001 Consultant describes project and core set of applications to teacher facilitators who will serve as resources to the building teams; develops plans for 5-day summer workshops.
April 11/12, 2001 Consultant provides awareness session and curriculum/technology integration magangement strategies/classroom activities to building administrators; describes project and importance of the core set of applications. Administrators will select a 3-5 member building curriculum/technology integration team and choose one of three "Day 1 - Day 2" sets for the kick-off of Phase 1.
April 13, 2001 Consultant turns over the project to the MCCSC facilitators, providing guidance and materials for conducting the 5-day summer sessions.
June 6-7, 2001

"Day 1 - Day 2" workshops: Project Facilitators and Applications Facilitators describe the project to building teams, identify the core set of applications and a minimal set of technology skills associated with those resources; allow time for initial brainstorming of projects and selection of one or two applications; provide tutorials for each of the application skill sets; and support initial planning/development of the teams' projects.
June 8 - August 2, 2001 Work Days 3, 4, 5: Building teams select locations and times (totaling 3 days) for completing the management and implementation strategies for implementing the project during school year 2001-2002. This stage of the project should be completed prior to members of the team coming under contract, at, or around, August 2, 2001.
September-December 2001 Building teams implement projects and begin involving additional staff and forming additional teams for Phase 2.
Phase 2
January-August 2002 Additional staff and additional project teams identified and trained in accordance with plans developed by the buildings.
