Multilingual Learner Support Program Overview
Our Multilingual Learner support team is committed to ensuring that every student and family has access to equitable educational opportunities. We support students in developing academic English, provide resources for families, and foster strong community partnerships that enhance student success.
Focus Areas
Language Access
We believe clear communication is essential for student and family success. Our team provides:
- Trained interpreters to support school meetings and events
- ParentSquare messaging in families’ preferred languages
Enrollment & Placement
Accurate identification and placement help students receive the support they need. We manage:
- English Learner (EL) identification at enrollment
- Placement in appropriate programs and services
English Language Development
We support English learners through tailored instruction and assessments aligned with WIDA standards. Services include:
- English as a New Language (ENL) classes
- Use of WIDA Standards to guide instruction
- WIDA assessments for measuring progress
- One-on-one and small-group tutoring
- Summer Enrich Program for extended learning opportunities
Family Engagement
Strong partnerships with families are key to student success. We provide:
- Multilingual communication and updates
- Family orientation sessions to help navigate the school system
- Access to resources and a comprehensive support to address common questions
Community Engagement
We work with community partners to expand opportunities and connections for our students, including:
- Service-learning partnership with Indiana University School of Education
- Partnerships with local organizations to provide additional support and resources
