The Monroe County Community School Corporation values the health and safety of our students. School nursing interventions aim to assist with acute and/or chronic health concerns, improve student health and provide a positive impact on school achievement, attendance, and success. In all MCCSC schools, travel registered nurses (RN), licensed practical nurses (LPN) and health aides assist students to develop the skills necessary for successful self-management of their health and well-being. The health services department aids in health promotion, disease prevention education, and activities for students, staff, and families.
Students are provided with services that help to appraise, protect, and promote their health. Services provided are designed to ensure that each student is able to access or be refered to primary care services. Primary care services can help to control communicable diseases, provide emergency care, and promote healthy habits.
Health Services Team
The team is comprised of health aides, licensed practical nurses (LPN), and travel registered nurses (RN). A health aide or licensed practical nurse (LPN) is on-site at each school caring for MCCSC students daily and providing valuable information to the school’s registered nurse who travels between multiple buildings. The licensed practical nurse (LPN) or health aide work collaboratively with the registered nurse (RN) to provide emergent and routine care for all students.
